### The job

A rattle from the front over cobbles or speed bumps on an MQB car is very often a worn drop link. This one fits the left or right side of the front axle on five of the VW group cars we cover, so one shelf item handles most of them. It is a 335 mm steel link with M12 x 1.5 studs and comes with its lock nuts.

### Alongside it

Links are usually replaced in pairs. Hold the stud with a hex key while tightening so the ball joint does not spin. On Golf VII and Octavia III febi lists 102810 as well without stating why, so compare the old part first. Check the lower arms and track-rod ends while the wheels are off.
