### The job

SACHS 560 161 replaces a worn rear shock absorber on the Skoda Octavia III from model year 2018 and Octavia IV. It takes over from 318 202 on the facelifted Octavia III and carries on into the Octavia IV with the four-link rear axle. Mounting is bottom eye, top pin, as on the original, so it goes straight in without changes.

### Alongside it

Change dampers in pairs on the same axle so the car stays balanced under braking and in bends. With the old unit out, check the bump stops, dust covers and mounting bushes and replace any that are split or flattened; a new damper on a worn bump stop soon gets damaged again.
