Why this one
01
M10x1 thread
4.4 V element, tightened to max 15 Nm.
02
Fast heat-up
Reaches glow temperature in under 3 seconds for quick cold starts.
03
Steel element
Robust metal sheathed element, as specified for these engines.
On the job
Cold starts and clean warm-up
Heats the combustion chamber for cold starts and keeps glowing after start-up to cut smoke and noise while the engine warms. This one has an M10x1 thread and a 4.4 V element and is tightened to a maximum of 15 Nm. Bosch lists it for the VW Golf VII, VW Passat B8, VW Tiguan II, VW Transporter T6, Skoda Octavia III, Skoda Octavia IV and Audi A4 B9.
How to change them
Old glow plugs seize in the head, so soak them in penetrating oil, work them out with a torque wrench and stop if the torque climbs; a snapped plug means a drilling job. Replace the full set on the engine, and test the glow-plug control unit and wiring while you are there.
