Engine oils with the approvals European workshops are asked for

Castrol started in London in 1899 as C.C. Wakefield & Co., selling lubricants for cars and early aircraft, and took its name from the castor oil in its first motor oils. More than 120 years later it is the brand most Nordic workshops already have on the dispenser, and most service books name an oil grade that Castrol makes.

EDGE is the premium range, with the long-life approvals VW, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Porsche ask for, from 0W-20 up to 10W-60. MAGNATEC is the everyday range, built around additives that stay on engine parts between starts, with grades for Ford, Stellantis and Fiat specifications and a separate MAGNATEC Hybrid line for petrol hybrids. Each grade is named by viscosity and the specification it targets.
