Why this one
01
M10x1 thread
7 V element, tightened to max 12 Nm.
02
Fast heat-up
Reaches glow temperature in under 2 seconds for quick cold starts.
03
Ceramic element
Ceramic heater runs hotter and holds its temperature longer than steel.
On the job
Cold starts and clean warm-up
A ceramic heating element runs hotter than a steel one and holds temperature longer after start-up, which the engine uses to keep combustion clean while cold. This plug has an M10x1 thread, 7 V rating and is tightened to a maximum of 12 Nm. Bosch lists it for the Mercedes C-Class W205 and Mercedes Sprinter.
How to change them
Old glow plugs seize in the head, so soak them in penetrating oil, work them out with a torque wrench and stop if the torque climbs; a snapped plug means a drilling job. Replace the full set on the engine, and test the glow-plug control unit and wiring while you are there.
