On the job
For the 1.4 MultiAir
Fiat's 1.4 MultiAir Turbo is specified on 5W-40 to Fiat 9.55535-S2. The MultiAir unit works the valves with engine oil pressure, so the right grade matters for how the engine runs. MAGNATEC 5W-40 C3 meets S2 and is an ACEA C3 mid-SAPS oil, which also makes it a sound 5W-40 for other petrol and diesel engines with particulate filters.
Wider use
It carries BMW Longlife-04, and Castrol warrants it for engines calling for MB 229.31, 229.51 and 229.52, so it can stand in where a 5W-40 is preferred on those cars. For the 124 Spider the service is oil, oil filter and sump plug seal; check the spark plugs and air filter on their own intervals.
