Belt-in-oil engine
The three-cylinder 1.0 EcoBoost runs its timing belt in the engine oil, so the oil has to be the grade Ford approved for it: 5W-20 to WSS-M2C 948-B. Special Tec F ECO carries that approval and is the oil the Liqui Moly guide lists for our Focus. Using it keeps the belt and the warranty paperwork on the safe side.
Deposit control
Small turbocharged petrol engines are prone to deposits, and this synthetic-technology oil is formulated to prevent them while saving fuel. Liqui Moly states it meets, and in places exceeds, the wear requirements of the older Ford WSS-M2C 913-C. Change the oil filter at the same time and note the oil spec in the service book.
