On the job
How it is used
Add it to the engine oil at operating temperature, let the engine idle for 10 to 15 minutes depending on how dirty it is, then drain and change the oil and filter. The detergents bring both oil-soluble and insoluble residues into suspension so they leave with the old oil instead of contaminating the new fill.
Where it pays off
It helps on neglected engines and on oil-controlled systems such as variable valve timing, where deposits upset the hydraulics. It does not attack common seal materials, is safe with timing belts running in oil, and suits turbos, catalysts and particulate filters. Do not use it in motorcycles with a wet clutch.
