The job
VKBA 3656 replaces a worn rear wheel bearing on the VW Golf VII and Skoda Octavia III. It is a complete hub unit with the flange built in, pre-set and sealed at the factory, so there is no end-play to adjust and it bolts straight on. The magnetic ABS encoder sits in the seal: fit it the right way round and keep magnetic tools and metal swarf away from it.
In the box and alongside
The kit comes with a fastener set, so no used fasteners go back on. SKF recommends its special tool VKN 604 for the job. SKF lists two per axle, and with the wheel off it is the moment to check the brake discs, pads, the CV joint boot and the other side's bearing.
