The job
VKBA 7222 replaces a worn rear wheel bearing on the Mercedes C-Class W205. SKF supplies it as a ready-to-fit unit matched to the original design, with the single-use parts the job calls for. The magnetic ABS encoder sits in the seal: fit it the right way round and keep magnetic tools and metal swarf away from it.
In the box and alongside
The kit comes with four screws and a nut, so no used fasteners go back on. SKF recommends its special tool VKN 604 for the job. SKF lists two per axle, and with the wheel off it is the moment to check the brake discs, pads, the CV joint boot and the other side's bearing.
