Why this one
01
Direct fit thread
3/4-16UNF-1B thread and 72 mm gasket match the OE filter head.
02
Anti-drain valve
Holds oil in the filter at standstill for quick pressure at start-up.
03
Bypass valve
Keeps oil flowing to the bearings on cold starts and with a loaded element.
On the job
Screw-on canister
The W 712/95 is a complete spin-on canister: unscrew the old one, oil the new sealing ring and tighten it by hand. The 3/4-16UNF-1B thread and 72 mm gasket match the engine's filter head, and the canister carries a non-return valve that keeps oil in the filter when the engine stops, so pressure builds fast on the next start.
Service set
On a service the workshop usually replaces it together with the air filter C 28 043 and cabin filter CU 26 009 for the same car, so one order covers the filters. The fitment list shows exactly which versions it suits. Log the change in the service book and reset the service indicator.
