On the job
For the 508/509 engines
Newer VW group engines are filled with 0W-20 from the factory and their service schedule asks for VW 508 00 on petrol and 509 00 on diesel. These oils are not backwards compatible, and older 504/507 oils must not go into these engines. EDGE 0W-20 LL IV carries both 508 00 and 509 00, so one grade covers a Golf 8 eTSI and an Octavia 4 TDI.
Three German long-life approvals
Castrol says it is the first 0W-20 to hold the long-life approvals of VW, BMW (Longlife-17 FE+) and Mercedes-Benz (229.71/229.72) at once, and it also has Porsche C20. That makes it the default low-viscosity drum for a workshop that services late German cars. Change the oil filter at the same time and reset the service interval.
