On the job
Longlife IV engines
Newer VW, Skoda, Audi and Seat engines, such as the EA211 evo petrol and EA288 evo diesel, are filled with 0W-20 to VW 508 00 or 509 00. Top Tec 6200 carries both approvals, so it covers the Golf 8 eTSI and Octavia IV TDI in the bay, and it is the only product the oil guide names for them.
Workshop notes
The low viscosity helps cold starts and fuel use, but it also means the older 5W-30 long-life oils are no substitute on these engines. Check the service label or the oil guide before topping up. Fit a new oil filter and drain plug washer at the same time; bulk comes as a 20 l bag-in-box or 60 l and 205 l drums.
