On the job
Sooted intakes
Diesel intakes collect a sticky mix of soot from the exhaust gas recirculation and oil mist from the crankcase breather. This aerosol's solvents loosen oil, resin and soot in the intake manifold and around the throttle valve, so moving parts work freely again without taking the manifold off the engine.
How to apply
Open the intake downstream of the air flow meter, turbo and intercooler, start the engine and spray in 2 to 3 second bursts at 2,000 rpm or more, moving the probe back and forth. Stop at once if revs rise by more than 1,000 rpm, and keep the spray off the air flow meter and painted parts.
