Why this one
01

Inner working tube and outer reserve tube, with gas to stop the oil foaming.
02
Original mounting points
Mounting is top eye, bottom eye, matched to the original part.
03
Split by version
Chosen by chassis version and codes; check the fitment note before ordering.
On the job
The job
SACHS 316 960 replaces a worn rear shock absorber on the Ford Transit Custom V362. It has an eye at each end and suits vans on standard steel suspension, where a worn rear axle shows up as float under load. Mounting is top eye, bottom eye, as on the original, so it goes straight in without changes.
Alongside it
Change dampers in pairs on the same axle so the car stays balanced under braking and in bends. With the old unit out, check the bump stops, dust covers and mounting bushes and replace any that are split or flattened; a new damper on a worn bump stop soon gets damaged again.
