The job
SACHS 317 330 replaces a worn front strut on the VW Golf VII and VIII, Passat B8, Tiguan II and Skoda Octavia III. One number covers most standard and sports-suspension cars on the MQB platform, as long as they have no DCC adaptive damping. Mounting is top pin, as on the original, so it goes straight in without changes.
Alongside it
Dampers should be changed in pairs on the same axle so the car stays balanced under braking and in bends. With the strut out, it is the natural time to replace the top mount, bump stops and dust covers, and to check springs, drop links and wheel alignment once it is back together.
