The job
SACHS 319 884 replaces a worn rear shock absorber on the Kia Niro I hybrid. It suits cars on standard suspension and is a quick swap once the car is on the lift with the rear wheels off. Mounting is bottom eye, top pin, as on the original, so it goes straight in without changes.
Alongside it
Change dampers in pairs on the same axle so the car stays balanced under braking and in bends. With the old unit out, check the bump stops, dust covers and mounting bushes and replace any that are split or flattened; a new damper on a worn bump stop soon gets damaged again.
