The job
SACHS 350 179 replaces a worn front shock absorber on the Volvo XC60 II. It is a separate damper rather than a full strut, for cars on standard steel suspension without air springs or adaptive damping. Mounting is top pin, as on the original, so it goes straight in without changes.
Alongside it
Change dampers in pairs on the same axle so the car stays balanced under braking and in bends. With the old unit out, check the bump stops, dust covers and mounting bushes and replace any that are split or flattened; a new damper on a worn bump stop soon gets damaged again.
