Why this one
01
Twin-tube gas design
Inner working tube and outer reserve tube, with gas to stop the oil foaming.
02
Original mounting points
Mounting is top pin, matched to the original part.
03
Split by version
Chosen by chassis version and codes; check the fitment note before ordering.
On the job
The job
SACHS 316 958 replaces a worn front strut on the Ford Transit Custom V362. It is meant for vans on standard steel suspension without air or electronic damping, the bulk of Transit Customs on fleet work. Mounting is top pin, as on the original, so it goes straight in without changes.
Alongside it
Dampers should be changed in pairs on the same axle so the car stays balanced under braking and in bends. With the strut out, it is the natural time to replace the top mount, bump stops and dust covers, and to check springs, drop links and wheel alignment once it is back together.
