On the job
One ATF, many gearboxes
A mixed-make workshop can end up with a shelf of different ATFs. Top Tec ATF 1800 is recommended for Toyota WS, Aisin Warner AW-1, Dexron VI, Ford Mercon LV and several BMW and VW part numbers, and the oil guide lists it for the Toyota e-CVT hybrids, the Volvo XC60 and V60 automatics, the Transit Custom and the ZF 8-speed in the BMW 3 Series.
Long intervals
The fluid holds its viscosity across a wide temperature range and resists ageing and oxidation, which keeps shift quality stable over long change intervals. Always follow the gearbox maker's fill procedure and check temperature before setting the level. On the Transit Custom the guide lists it for the power steering as well.
