The job
The right-hand lower arm for the Passat B8 and Tiguan II. Bushes come fitted; the ball joint is a separate bolt-on part, so only the worn piece needs replacing. Swapping both sides at once keeps the car tracking straight and means one alignment instead of two.
Alongside it
Check the ball joint for play and a sound boot before moving it to the new arm. The same visit is a good time to look at drop links and outer track-rod ends, and to recalibrate front driver-assistance cameras or radar where the car has them.
