The job
SACHS 315 463 replaces a worn rear shock absorber on the Fiat Doblò Cargo 1.6 MultiJet. ZF also lists 315 374 for the same van without telling them apart, so check the OE number on the old damper before ordering. Mounting is top eye, bottom eye, as on the original, so it goes straight in without changes.
Alongside it
Change dampers in pairs on the same axle so the car stays balanced under braking and in bends. With the old unit out, check the bump stops, dust covers and mounting bushes and replace any that are split or flattened; a new damper on a worn bump stop soon gets damaged again.
