Why this one
01
Mono-tube design
Single tube with a separating piston, as on the original part.
02
Original mounting points
Mounting is bottom fork, top pin, matched to the original part.
03
Split by version
Chosen by chassis version and codes; check the fitment note before ordering.
On the job
The job
SACHS 318 063 replaces a worn front shock absorber on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205 C 220 d. It is a mono-tube unit with a fork at the bottom, as on the original, and covers standard, sports and comfort suspension without air springs. Mounting is bottom fork, top pin, as on the original, so it goes straight in without changes.
Alongside it
Change dampers in pairs on the same axle so the car stays balanced under braking and in bends. With the old unit out, check the bump stops, dust covers and mounting bushes and replace any that are split or flattened; a new damper on a worn bump stop soon gets damaged again.
