The job
On an electric car the A/C compressor also cools the battery, so a failure can keep the car off the road, not just make the cabin warm. This new 350 V unit fits the Model 3 up to 09.2020 with drive unit 3D1. There is no belt or pulley; it is driven by its own inverter.
Safety and oil
Only staff trained for high-voltage work should fit it, with the HV system isolated. Electric compressors need an insulating oil, and Valeo lists POE; keep PAG out of the circuit and use dedicated service equipment. Replace the condenser with drier, 822757, if the old compressor contaminated the loop.
